Who voiced the Cardo tag — and where did it come from?
Three words of pure branding — by the most-repeated account, a friend's wordplay on the Red Bull slogan that stuck so hard it became his artist name: CardoGotWings.
The tag rides an unusually wide catalog: Travis Scott's “Goosebumps”, Drake's “God's Plan” (with Boi-1da) and “Laugh Now Cry Later” all open under the same wings.
Nobody has ever publicly named the voice on the drop — one of several iconic tags whose narrator remains anonymous.
What songs use the Cardo tag?
- Goosebumps — Travis Scott (2016)
- God's Plan — Drake (2018)
- Laugh Now Cry Later — Drake ft. Lil Durk (2020)
How to make a tag like Cardo's (without copying it)
You can't use “Cardo got wings!” on your own beats: it is Cardo's signature, and putting another producer's name or their original tag audio on your work misleads the artists and listeners who hear it. What you can borrow is the structure. Here is how this one is built.
- It is 3 words long, short enough to land before the first downbeat.
- The producer's name is inside the line, so the tag doubles as a credit. That is the one part you should always copy: put your own name in yours.
- Nobody has put the voice on record, and the tag works anyway: listeners know the line, not the speaker. Whoever says yours matters less than saying it the same way on every beat. A friend, an AI voice pad or your own recording are all fine.
- For Trap beats, the TRAP preset (pitched down two semitones, reverb, stutter) is the closest starting point.
Write your own line with your name in it, then open the producer tag generator, pick a voice or record yourself, and start from the TRAP style preset. For more phrase starters see 50 producer tag ideas.
