PRODUCER TAG № 0038
MEXIKODRO PRODUCER TAG
“Pluh!”
Who voiced the MexikoDro tag — and where did it come from?
“Pluh!” started life as a full “beat plug” drop — by the best account, recorded by BeatPluggTwo — that MexikoDro chopped down to one slurred syllable. Dro himself remembers it differently: “sent by either StupidXool or the guy we kicked out of Beat Pluggz, and it just stuck.” Even the tag's own crew can't agree who said it, which is very plugg.
He liked that it sounded like a DJ drop rather than a rapper's voice. Rich The Kid's “Plug” with Playboi Carti and Kodak Black (2015) carried it out of SoundCloud, and the syllable became the watermark of an entire subgenre.
With the BeatPluggz collective (StupidXool, Polo Boy Shawty and co.), Dro built plugg from Zaytoven-school minimalism — airy keys, negative space — a sound whose influence runs through pluggnb and half the underground since.
