Who voiced the TM88 tag — and where did it come from?
TM88 rides two signatures: his own spoken “TM88” drop and the collective 808 Mafia siren — a scream that traces to Quincy Jones' “Ironside” theme, which TM88 knew through Kill Bill: “Every time something happens in Kill Bill, that little noise just comes out of nowhere.”
The siren is the real star: after “F*ck Up Some Commas” it became shorthand for a whole strain of menacing Atlanta production.
His solo landmark, Lil Uzi Vert's “XO Tour Llif3” (2017), carried emo-trap to diamond status — TM88's drums under rap's saddest hook.
