PRODUCER TAG № 0001
METRO BOOMIN PRODUCER TAG
“Metro Boomin want some more”
Who voiced the Metro Boomin tag — and where did it come from?
The line comes from Young Thug's vocal on “Some More”, a track Metro produced for his 2013 mixtape 19 & Boomin. Metro clipped Thug's ad-lib and started stamping it on his beats — by 2016 it was one of the most recognized sounds in rap.
It's often misattributed to Future because Future voiced Metro's other famous tag — “If Young Metro don't trust you, I'm gon' shoot you”, first heard on Drake & Future's “Jumpman” (2015). Two tags, two voices, one producer.
The “want some more” tag is the canonical example of a drop that outgrew its source song: quoted, memed, and recognizable from two words in. Its placement — first downbeat, right before the 808 enters — is imitated as much as its sound.
What songs use the Metro Boomin tag?
- Mask Off — Future (2017)
- Bad and Boujee — Migos (2016)
- Like That — Future, Metro Boomin & Kendrick Lamar (2024)
