Who voiced the Tay Keith tag — and where did it come from?

Tay Keith found his tag by crowdsourcing: he asked for submissions on Twitter, and Clarksville rapper Lil Juice sent in a handful of takes. The one that stuck sounds like a hype man mid-session rather than a produced drop — which is exactly why it works.

Because the tag exploded on BlocBoy JB records — “Rover”, then “Look Alive” with Drake in 2018 — it's widely assumed BlocBoy voiced it. He didn't; his early collaborations actually used a different drop (“Tay Keith produced this”).

The tag's aggressive energy became shorthand for the Memphis bounce sound of the late 2010s, stamped on records for Travis Scott, Drake and Beyoncé.
