Who voiced the Turbo tag — and where did it come from?
The voice belongs to Georgia musician Jamal Britt, clipped from “Afghanistan”, a 2017 song the two made together. “Drip Too Hard” (2018) took the tag diamond, and it has opened more than eighty records since.
It's also the rare tag with a court record: Britt sued in 2024 over its use, and the court dismissed every claim in March 2025, affirming Turbo's exclusive rights — a cautionary tale about settling tag ownership in writing on day one.
As Gunna and Young Thug's go-to architect (he executive-produced DS4EVER and One of Wun), Turbo made the command-style tag a signature of the melodic Atlanta era.
