PRODUCER TAG № 0004
MUSTARD PRODUCER TAG
“Mustard on the beat, ho!”
Who voiced the Mustard tag — and where did it come from?
YG shouted the line at the end of “I'm Good” (2011), and Mustard turned the throwaway vocal into the defining stamp of the West Coast ratchet era.
It's one of the clearest examples of the classic tag formula: a longtime collaborator's voice, a direct name-check, and placement so consistent that radio DJs could identify the producer before the first snare.
A decade later the tag had a second cultural moment when “Not Like Us” (2024) made “Mustaaard” a global catchphrase all over again.
What songs use the Mustard tag?
- Rack City — Tyga (2011)
- My N***a — YG (2013)
- Not Like Us — Kendrick Lamar (2024)
